It has been registered under the Tanzanian Companies Act 2002, Cap. 212, R. E. 2002 as a company limited by guarantee without having share capital. The head office of the organization is situated in Songea, Ruvuma Region in Tanzania.

Mission Statement
African Institute for Comparative and International Law is not for profit, non partisan, non governmental organization that strives to be a centre for empowering people in understanding international law and comparative national legal studies of the African region. In this globalized world, it envisages to be a research center whereby one can acquire national and international legal scientific research competences and through its Publications, to be the centre for disseminating national and international wise this knowledge to the public
